The USA finished with 121 total medals (46 Gold, 37 Silver, and 28 Bronze). They were followed by China in total medals with 70 (26 Gold, 18 Silver, and 26 Bronze) and Great Britain who totaled 76 (27 Gold, 23 Silver, and 17 Bronze).

Wylie, Texas’ very own Jackie Galloway brought home the bronze medal after defeating France’s Gwladys Epangue 2-1 in Taekwondo.

Other top performers included Michael Phelps, who earned five more gold medals and one silver to take his total to 28 Olympic medals – the most in history. Simone Biles made her much-anticipated Olympic debut, winning gold in the Women’s Vault, Women’s Team All-Around, Women’s Floor Exercise, and Women’s Individual All-Around. Biles also won a bronze medal in the Women’s beam final. She is a heavy favorite to repeat at Tokyo 2020. Katie Ledecky was another top performer in 2016 as the 19-year-old swimmer from Stanford dominated the pool, and took home 4 golds and one silver.

So, what’s next?
